IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU FILL ON THE APPLICATION FORM YOU SEND TO THE HOME OFFICE. I SEND MINE THROUGH SOLICITOR AND GOT MY ACK POSTED TO MY ADDRESS. I THINK YOU SHOULD CALL THE HOME OFFICE AND ASK THEM ABOUT THE ADDRESS THEY WILL TELL YOU IF WILL GET IT OR YOUR SOLICITOR.I ALSO CALLED THEM LAST WEEK ABOUT SAME QUESTION AND THEY TOLD ME.

Hi everyone ,

i know its been long time that i posted an update , but here we go :

i went to the interview that i had in may , it went well questions very simple , my wife asked the caseworker why we were interviewed , he sais they pick a case in random (ya al right ) , then we asked him when we gonna get our stuff pack and an answer he sais within 10 days max , he is gonna make a decision the same same day or 3 days after interview max , its been more than a month , ans nothing yet , i keep call them and they gave me the same answer , on progress but not completed so last call i lost patience , i said to them its been 11 months and i get the same answer, my wife called the local services for immigration issues and the guy who deal it called back stating the H.O required further checks in the 28 of june , a lot of cr** thats what the mp told them that h.o done 6 months ago , i dont know what to do anymore , they really take people for s**** , there is nothing you can at all even the solicitor doesnt reply to my emails , last call to the H.o said to me that i can complain to one email she gave , and it may take up to 20 days for it , she said if you complain they may push the process for you . i dont know if it worth complaining or not , any professional advice would be helpful , the Mp proper useless , maybe because thats what conservatives party do , they dont like immgration matter at all , but thats fine one thing i know i will never vote for anything because we expect to what life in the journey book say , but just a lot of crap to be honest im really disapppointed about how things going if they dont want me here send me back home , and keep dispperat people without passport to stay here .

Longtime no see,
If following the complaint channel will speed up things is better you follow it. I dont see why they should keep delaying making decision on your application since you have been interviewed, by now they should have all the facts they want.

Another hopeless day...

Phoned the Biometric line again to be told "Sorry no records for you" But the lady was nice this time and asked me to send a fax to the SET team, which I did just after the call.

She also mentioned it is unusual to wait 3 months to send out the BM letter, so hope someone will pick that fax and react.

Thanks.I'm relieved the wait is over.my application was straight forward:work permit + teir 2.no complications.
I did'nt send a return envelope with my application.my passport was returned from the Liverpool office using recorded delivery.

Hi all!

I have been following this forum for awhile now even before I submitted my ILR application to get a rough idea on how long it would take and read a lot of posts by frustrated people. Never imagined that I would be one of them now ranting on and on about how flawed the whole system is. Frankly speaking its a JOKE!

Submitted my application on April and received the confirmation letter in May and still waiting for the documents to return. I understand that other people have been waiting longer than me but IT IS JUST FRUSTRATING. I have also bought flight tickets to attend my nephews wedding in August - bought it way before I applied for ILR thinking there would be enough time to get the documents back (guess thats my fault).

I don't understand why we can't check the progress of our application. Paying that much money for a dumb caseworker to look through documents and taking months to do so, fair enough there are thousands of applicants but can't they provide a service where we can check the status of the application? Whether its still processing or approved or posted so we won't be left wondering everyday whether there was a problem with it or even lost in the post.

I do apologise for my language but it is just frustrating waiting and not being able to check how it is going. When called the number we are met with an automated recorded machine telling us not to contact them regarding the application process, surely I hope people do agree with me that we would feel very much assured if we could speak to an actual person even if it is just to reassure us to wait patiently for our documents. I'm glad that this forum is available for people to discuss and let out some steam during this frustrating time! Mad

Welcome to the club. If it makes you feel any better, which it probably wont...

A few years ago they used to give you "updates" when you called. It would go something like this:

"In progress"
"Waiting"
"With Caseworker"
"Waiting"
"In Progress"
"Waiting"
"Under Consideration"
"In progress"
"Waiting"
"Ooh we sent it last week, you should get it any time now!"

So basically it was a random sequence of states in some ridiculous state machine, with no idea of what kind of cycles exist within it (clearly a few!) or how close it is to the end. It's probably best to just think of your application sitting safely in a pile somewhere. Someone will pick it up at some stage in the next half year or so and think about it.

In an ideal world they'd give an estimate. "We believe your application to be approximately 1/3rd of the way through the consideration process." But that's way too much to ask for currently.

Thanks ed_1980 for replying. Now that you mentioned that I think that it won't be very useful either even if they tell us that haha. Nothing can please us humans . anyway only thing I can do is wait and pray it gets back before my flight. I'll update everyone again once I receive my documents!

Some good information. If I don't get the BM letter in a weeks time, I'm going to write them requesting similar information.

In addition, I will ask why they were failed to inform me before I book the in person appointment at Glasgow PEO, that they cannot assess my application.

I must say however that looking at our data on here, 45 days average processing time does not include the application waiting to be processed and after a decision has been made, waiting for your ILR label. I think the 45day average is for the "actual processing time" so in other words - yet again the UKBA seem to bend the truth to make their processing standards seem okay! It should be measured from the received date to the clients postal received date. *NOT the begining processing date to decision date!!

There are no words to describe how let down I feel from the UK government and I am second thinking as to why I should stay in this country... why not take my skills somewhere else... maybe somewhere sunny

If I write to them, I will certainly ask them to breakdown this "processing time"

1. Time to charge & send the acknowledgement letter
2. Time to send the Biometric enrolment
3. Time to assign a caseworker
4. Time to evaluate the application
5. Time to finalise and grant ILR
6. Time to dispatch the documents from grant
7. If there any waiting time to collected by Royal Mail or Couriers, etc

There's a caveat in there remember - "Figures relate to postal applications as well as applications submitted at Public Enquiry Offices" - so I can very much believe that the average processing time is 45 days if they have a whole bunch of applications done in 1 day via PEOs. This would massively skew the average down. If we knew how many of those in that week were postal vs PEO, we could approximately un-skew it! Alas. We already know it takes aeons.

I am thinking along similar lines....is it even worth the hassle along with all the other issues that this country has - knife crime, recession etc.
