EC question: Is the HSMP letter returned?

Hello all,

For those who have applied for EC, is the original HSMP letter returned or does the High Commission keep it?

why you are bothered about the original letter ? You should be concerned about the visa stamped on your passport. If this is done , you won't require the letter anymore right ???

Well I don't think they return it back unless you got a rejection but I am not confirmed over it as haven't had a chance so far for HSMP. For workpermit case, I have been returned my Work Permit back after EC and Stamp on my passport. So Anyone with EC Exp. can surely come up with what actually they do with HSMP letter.

Hi,
My EC cleared in India. HC returned all the documents including HSMP letter except the covering letter and accommodation letter from my friend.

I think they kept those two documents for my address proof in UK. Hope this info is helpful.

BTW, do we still need the HSMP Approval letter in UK(I mean after getting the EC)?

EC in NewYork where i applied returned ALL the documents

The Los Angeles office asked for the documents plus a photocopy and kept the photocopy.

In my case ECO returned the original HSMP approval letter keeping one photocopy.
