Letter from the employer for ILR ?

Post by vikas_raghunath » Wed Jul 11, 2012 10:16 am

Hello,

I will be eligible for ILR in the month of October ( after coming in on HSMP and extending the visa to Tier1).
I have been in permanent employment all along these 5 years.
I have started my current job about 14 months ago.

I have been reading this forum to understand the documents that I need to submit.

I have gone through the latest SET(o) form in detail too.

But one point which is not very clear to me is "Letter from the employer".
If I give the company authorised payslips for the last year and give the P60 and the bank statements to support them. Is it still necessary to give a letter from the employer to confirm that I am employed with them ?

Thanks in advance

If the form asks for a letter, then it better be a letter.

The form doesnt ask for letter.
But I have seen many of them in the forum saying that they have given an employer letter. And quite a lot of them dont mention anything about it.
So there's a little confusion about it.

I understand that if anyone is self employed ( with their own limited company) then they need such letter. But is such a letter necessary for a person who has been in a permanent employment with proper payslips etc ?

A letter from your employer is certainly advisable. Just ask your HR department to write a letter ststing your name, NI number, employee number, and that you are employed by them currently, starting from date, etc,, Headed paper, atamped and signed.

The important thing here is to have info on that letter, that WILL MATCH, other info you will submit on your Payslips & Bank statments... Have your name in full (to match that on payslips if diff, etc)

hope this helps

For Tier 1 General applicants the previous earning in employment category needs two evidence. Payslips & Bank statements. If the Payslips are missing then you go for the detailed summary letter from your HR/Finance department. For P60, if it covers your exact claiming period can be used, otherwise it is useless for claiming points.

The letter you are refering or most of us confuse it, is required byTier 2 migrants for ILR.

If you want to add it as and additional proof/evidence then it is OK, otherwise you don't need that.
The question is... to be or not to be....

Hi

I agree with Zahid the letter from the employer is not compulsory for Tier 1 applicants who are applying for their ILR. Letter from the employer is manadatory for Tier 2 or WP holders.

Hope this will answer your question and gives you a bit more of assurity.

Please do kindly share your PEO experience with us on the forum.

Good luck for your ILR.
