IRELAND + IMMIGRATION - Help most appreciated

Dear All,

I am a Non-EU National in the U.K with a BEng(Hons) 2:1-Civil and Structural Engineering Degree and 4.5 years working experience. I am nearing to the end of my Working Visa.

I would like to ask few questions regarding immigration and I hope the Moderaters/Specialists will be kind enough to respond.

1. What is the best possible route to migrate and settle in the Republic of
Ireland. Do they have flexible immigartion Rules. For example
Indefinate Leave to remain after 3/4 years of continous working? or
otherwise??

2. Any other Schemes which are operated by the Irish Government for
prospective Skilled Workers?

3. If the answer to the above two questions seems unfavourable, then
is there any other European Country which is English Speaking and
has relaxed Immigration Laws?

1. Short answer : Become a British citizen first.

Longer answer : The Irish immigration system is "under construction" and is likely to change a lot in the next few years. They are just in the process of introducing "long term residency" for those over 5 years in the country. And currently, those on work permits can apply directly for naturalisation after 5 years but that could easily change in the near future.


2. Try http://www.justice.ie (but don't expect comprehensive or up-to-date information).


3. No, sorry. Outside Europe, could Australia or New Zealand be an option?

Thank you for your kind reply to the questions which I asked. I have few comments to the answers, hopefully you will consider replying:

1. Difficult to become British Citizen as I am on a TWES WP and it is expiring soon. The HO has rejected my Employer's new application for a B&C WP citing reasons as to they are simply not satisfied. However my Employer has lodged in an Appeal for re-considertaion of their decision. I am in a situation whereby I can't find a way out. Above all the Wife is expecting as well.

More information : Grand Father till his death was a CUKC and born outside the U.K., and my Father was a CUKC but did renounce it before my Birth. Do'nt know what to do. Both were born outside the U.K as far as I know.
