Can a foreign source of income be ok for Tier 1 extension?

Post by paul4cakes » Tue Jul 10, 2012 5:39 pm

I am currently a Tier1 general migrant & due for extension in about 10 months. i believe i am under rules placed before april 6,2010 as my first Tier 1 application date was March 23, 2010. I am an IT contractor and use an umbrella company. the way my salary is structured ( salary + loans), it seems that it may not satisfy the earnings requirement for extension. hence i am considering second job but this job is in another country and I will work remotely from here. THe salary will be deposited in an account in that country. my question is: can the earnings from this second job be considered as qualified earnings for extension purposes even though it is in another country? if i combine the two income, i get the required points needed for extension. I will be residing primarily in the UK with occasional travel.
Alternatively, opening a limited company where i draw more income via dividends can be a better idea?
Many thanks.
Cheers

Yes you can use overseas earnings. There have been sucessful applicants on this forum who have also used 100% overseas income for extension purposes.
