Tier 1 extension point calculation... Pls advice.

Post by priyakute » Thu Jan 19, 2012 12:33 pm

Hi,

Apologies if my questions are basics, I am bit confused so need help.

1) During initial application for Tier 1 visa, I claimed Qualification point for my Bachelor Degree (30 points).
My Question: Now I am due for my Tier 1 Extension, I have complete my Masters Degree and it’s on ukba point calculator also,
can I claim my Master's degree (35points) for my Extension.

If Yes to this, Then for the English language requirement, should I need to show Bachelors or Masters during Tier 1 Extension.

2) During initial application for Tier 1 visa, I claimed 35 points for Pervious earnings.
My Question: For Tier 1 extension, As I will be getting 5 points for UK Earnings and 5 points extra for Masters degree.
Can I claim 25 points.

My Initial Application:
Age: 10
Qualification: 30 (Bachelors Degree)
Earnings: 35
Maintenance: 10
English Language: 10

Tier 1 Extension:
Age: 10 points
Qualification: 35 (Masters Degree)
UK Experience: 5 points
Earnings: 25 points
Maintenance: 10
English Language: 10

Please advice and help

Thanks
Priya

This shouldn't be a problem. As you have completed your master's degree you would get the points for the highest degree.

While applying write a cover letter clearly stating that you had completed your Masters degree during the first visa period and are claiming the points for it.

2nd Question.

Yes. You can claim 25 points for your earnings and 5 points for U.K. experience.

Hi ,

I am in a similar situation . My tier 1 is valid until 20th March 2013. I am planning to come to UK in 1st June 2011. When I apply for my extension next year. I will have 8 months of UK earning which will not be sufficient for my extension without UK experience of 5 points.

Pls note I got my Tier 1 applying from India as Outside applicant hence I didnt not get UK experience in my original application.

I wanted to know whether I am eligible for UK experience of 5 points.

Thanks
Sambit

spanig, 8 months are ok u can calculate that if that 8months placed in 15months before the application date, u need to prof that by 2 ways as u know that and by that u get automatically 5 points experince, u r in safe side but once the 8 months income = sufficent points in your total points req.

priyakute, ur points depends when did u applay 4 the first visa is it before or after 6april 2010,
u said "5 points for UK Earnings" i think u mean 5 points for UK Experience, in earning u can claim any amount of points (money) once you can prove it by 2ways as u know that,
about ur Bachelors and Masters degree u will put both in education but u will get points just in one qualification which sure u will select master and when ask about ur english u will find in the screen both qualifications and u will select the one got 10 points as it was taught in English or some thing also also u don't need to prof ur english again coz there is an option in the calculator is ((I have already proven my English language skills in a previous Tier 1 or HSMP application)) in both cases u r safe

Hi,

Could anyone help me on the below query which I have.

I apply for my initial Tier 1 in India on 9-Jly-2010. I had requested my visa start date from 15-Sep-2010. I received my Tier 1 visa stamped on
17-july-2010.

So i applied and got my Tier 1 visa before the point rules changed for 100 points.

My question is: Do i need to show 95 points for extn or 100 points (as my start date was in sep-2010)

My belief is that i should show 95points.

Pls clarify and help.

Thanks
Priya
