Will the passport be returned on the same day for in-person?

Hi,

Will the passport be returned on the same day for in-person application?
Will only the BRP be issued later within 7 days?

The background for the question is:
The dependent applicant have to travel out of the country soon after the appointment due to the pregnancy requirements.
The main applicant will remain in the country.
(We do not want to make a gap in dependent's visa. If we does not apply for extension now, then it will make a gap in dependent's visa as the dependent has to travel and the visa will expire while the dependent is out of the country.)

Also, can the dependent travel if we get the passport back on the same day of the appointment and before receiving the BRP?

I wouldn't advise you to do so until you have got your BRP.

1) Dependent visa is based on successful approval of your visa.
2) If they send your application for further queries then you wont get a passport and documents back.
3) Though you can request the passport back.

You can request your passport back for verifications, however, if you mention travel as your reason, your visa/leave application will be returned as invalid.
