Maximum period of stay including extensions under Tier 2 ICT

Friends,

I have just today got to know that I cannot extend my leave beyond 5 years under Tier 2 ICT as I came before April 2010. I came under Work Permit and later got multiple extensions till today via CoS under Tier 2 ICT.

Can you please validate this? Was there a rule that stated if someone has come before April 2010, he/she can only get extended up to a maximum period of 5 years?

Your response will be of immense help for me to take a practical decision.
