Biometrics Letter Advice

For Stevepham and everyone else who is waiting on a biometric letter, I applied on 4 April (application received on 5 April according to Royal Mail); acknowledgement letter received on 4 May. I just called the UKBA biometrics information helpline and they told me that my biometrics letter was issued on 20 July and will arrive within 10 working days. Hopefully this is the final round as you don't get much later than 5 April!

If you want to know whether your letter is on its way, call 0870 606 7766, then press 4 for 'other enquiries', then 1 for 'biometrics information'. I recommend using a landline as it's expensive and you will have to wait.

When you are connected, DO NOT ASK about your application status. Only state that you have an application submitted on ______, have not yet received your biometrics letter, and want to know whether it has been issued. If they give you the bullshit about 'can't give info on applications made less than 6 months ago', tell them you are NOT asking about the application, only the biometrics letter. Be firm, they have to give you this information.

They will require the date of application, reference number, and your name, date of birth, and nationality.

Good luck!

@Prockford: Thank you very much. Given your suggestion, I will wait until the end of this month before giving 'em a ring.
The best thing I can do is to keep calm and carry on, isn't it? So does everyone hopefully.

Again, thank you prockford personally indeed, and anyone took a glance on my query.

Yes ARJUN .....

u can do work .....please have a at follwing para from UKCISA

Can I work while I wait for a decision on my Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) or Tier 2 application?
If you applied under Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) before your immigration permission to be in the UK as a student expired, you can work full-time while you for the decision on your Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) application. You can carry on working full-time even after your student permission expires, if you are still waiting for the decision at that stage. But you must not:

engage in business, self-employment or provide services as a professional sportsperson or entertainer
pursue a career by filling a permanent full-time vacancy

Show them this example letter and tale out the print of the link from UKCISA
Letter from the Home Office explaining the position.

http://www.ukcisa.org.uk/files/pdf/work ... ng_psw.pdf

take this as proof ....

http://www.ukcisa.org.uk/student/workin ... #ing_tier1

it might help them understanding that they are not doing anything illegal ....and who knows these documents might change their minds ...

ALL THE BEST ....

Hi,

I wonder what reasons you stated to the MP that he processed it for you. I had my biometric on 12th May and my MP here at Leeds was told that UKBA is processing applications for biomtric submitted in 2nd week of April. I have to travel for a conference on 7th August and have bought airtickets too but am now worried till death.

Hope we will all get our docs on time.

Thanks,

J.

Hi - I told my MP that I was due to fly home on 02 August and they said that if I provided proof of my travel (I forwarded my itinerary) they might be able to speed up the process, though obviously no guarantees. It looks like your MP got more information than mine did, though; I was told that they weren't given any information as to status.

I find the idea that they're processing applications with biometrics submitted on a certain date suspicious, though, because everybody who has posted their processing times seems to have a completely different timeline - it looks totally random. Good luck!

Silver Lining

Post by davidroode » Sun Jul 29, 2012 9:52 am

Hi everyone,

I know a lot of people are furious about the long wait for these PSW applications, but my wife got her BRP a few days ago and there is an upside to the whole thing.

She applied in March, but the visa was issued at the end of July and is valid for two years from the issue date.

Assuming that this is standard procedure, that means that all this time we have been waiting around is basically extra visa time in the UK courtesy of the UKBA's application backlog :)

Just thought I'd pass that along to those of you still waiting; there is a silver lining to the whole thing! :)

I got the documents back with a letter dated 17th July, BRP to be delivered in 7 days. It has still not arrived! Do they every take 10 days instead of 7??
