TIER 1 Extension as self employed Final Check @Sheffield PEO

Post by UK_1927 » Fri Jul 20, 2012 10:21 am

Hi,

I have taken an appointment at PEO Sheffield for TIER 1 Extension for myself and 1 dependent (wife) for 1st week in August.

I am self employed ( sole trader – as a consultant) (I do not received any dividend neither I have a Ltd company)

Documentation:

Claiming 10months self employment income

10 months Invoices raised to Customer
10 months Remittance from customer
Contract letter from my customer who is giving me project to work on
10 months Personal bank statement (current account) where received exact amount as per remittance & invoice( don’t have business account)
I am showing same personal bank statement for maintenance fund as well for myself & wife( is it ok ? )

10 months account certify by CIMA qualified Accountant i.e. Profit & loss Statement (claiming final net profit after deducting expenses from gross profit)
Gross and Net income letter from accountant, Invoice explanations & payment summaries from accountant

Unique tax reference letter from HMRC
NI-2 Contribution bills for initial period & then after direct debit entry in my bank statement
Extra document - Self assessment return only submitted not paid yet for 2011-2012 as a deadline to pay is Jan2013 (however it doesn’t show exact amt what I am claiming for, it covers from April 2011 to march 2012 & I am claiming for Oct’11 to July’12)

As business grow I have purchase below insurance policy early in July 2012 ( is it going to be any problem if I didn’t have insurance for period I claimed ?)
Certificate of Public and products Liability Insurance
Certificate of professional Indemnity Insurance

Dependent :
Marriage certificate
Last tier1 dependent approved letter
Her personal bank statement or driving licence( for address proof)

Senior, Please advice if I am missing anything

Many Thanks for all your help

I dont think as per UKBA rules you need any insurance if you are sole trader.
If you have it, its good.

Personal Bank A/c should be ok.

You can use the same a/c if you like to show funds for yourself and your wife.

Contract letter is not important but its your wish not mandatory.

Hi Guys

As promised here is my experience....

Name of PEO Applied: Sheffield
My Case: Self-employed only ( sole trader)

No of Applicants: 2 (Main + 1 dependent-wife)
Current vignette: Tier 1 General (3+2)
Date of PEO Appointment: 01 August 2012
Appointment was at 9 am
Date of expiry of current leave (visa): 23 Sep 2012
Date of expiry of the new visa: Not known yet (but I have requested from 24 Sep 2012 & case worker was also agreed)
Payment mode: Debit Card (1800+900)

Approval letter given on same day: No
further enquiries letter handed over: 11.50
Approval letter received on : 02 August 2012
BRP received: Not yet

Reached PEO: 8.30 & token given from reception
9.10 Called by admin staff to check application forms( she has taken 2 application forms & Passport only) & ask me to make payment)

Finished Biometrics: 10.15

Called by Case worker: 11.00
He just ask me to give all supporting documents what I have for income proof only, I was surprised he didn't ask any single document for dependent (neither marriage certificate nor address proof, may be becoz we have married in UK & my wife has her 3rd extension with me as a dependent)
anyways my case worker clearly told me that such type of application i.e.(self employed) will take good few hours to decided however in an hour time will give you 90% overview what decision would likely to be... (sounds like I wouldn't get my decision on same day)

11.50 Case worker called me again and told me that 90% he is happy to grant all the points what I have claimed and returned all the originals and kept the passports with him for further enquiries need to be made therefore application has been passed to a team where these enquiries can be made ( as I was lucky that this team is based at Sheffield) therefore he assured me that he would have this report next day from enquiry team

03 August 2012 : I have received our passport back with approval letter dated 02august 2012 via royal mail next day special delivery

Wishing everyone all the best !!

Please note every experience is different & what is requested by the case worker completely depends on individual.

Many thanks for this forum & everyone's help

PEO SHEFFIELD

Post by ggnngg » Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:59 pm

Dear All
I got my Tier 1 Extension in Sheffield PEO on 13th August 2012. I applied both as employed and self employed.
The decision was given the same day i.e 13th August 2012.
I submitted my papers. No questions asked. After three hours, I was informed that my visa extension has been approved.
The UKBA people were very nice and polite.

I am employed and self employed.
I submitted the following documents--
A. EMPLOYMENT
1. Letter of employment
2. Salary slip with covering letter from HR for one year
3. Bank statements highlighting my salary
B. SELF EMPLOYMENT [SOLE TRADER]
1. Letter of contract
2. Letter from the Company clearly indicating the amount received for self employment
3. Bank statements [highlighting the payment received]
4. Letter from accountant mentioning the invoices, payment received, NI paid
5. Invoices generated for self employment
6. HMRC Documents-- welcome letter with UTR Number, NI Bills and its payments, Direct Debit Letter for NI, Tax returned filed to HMRC

Please make sure that your payments tally with your banks accounts. The dates and amount must be same in the documents.

In addition, I submitted Bank statements for the maintenance fund requirement.

Hope this helps

GGNNGG, Congratulations.

when you went to sheffield PEO, from all the above mentioned documents. in terms of validating your self employed income as sole trader, what information did the case worker ask for in particularly.

since you mentioned that you had all the documents, but did they have to ask you for contract letter, letter from the Company clearly indicating the amount received for self employment.??

Hi,

Are invoice explanations required when applying as Employed with 100% share in Limited company? I create invoice but just for my own records. Payment is remitted by recruitment agency on behalf of my employer into my business account. I just submit time-sheets and they remit payment and send remittance advice.

Any suggestion?

Hi
The policy guidance is clear about invoices--- if you are self-employed, then one has to submit invoices and the same need to be explained by the accountant in his letter.

Dear Forum members,

I have the following query.

What documents do I need to provide If I show my overseas earning (self employed). At the moment, I have got the following documents.

1 Tax letter issued from the Govt.
2 personal bank statement(overseas) where the monies credited
3 Accountant letter from overseas will be available in couple of weeks
Do I have to provide invoices?

Paragraph extract from guidence policy.

Examples of document combinations to
provide

Self-employed earnings within a business
or company structure:

If an applicant has worked in a selfemployed
capacity in his/her own business
or company structure and has chosen to
keep his/her earnings within the business or
company, he/she could provide:

• business or company accounts that meet
statutory requirements and show the
net profit made for the earnings period
claimed; and
• personal/business bank statements.

hope to get a positive response soon,
