SPOUSE VISA

Post by benn1 » Mon Aug 06, 2012 6:00 pm

Hi

i'm due to bring my wife in the uk on basics of Spouse visa.

however due finical rules seems like I require an income over 18K. at the moment my income is 13K. and have 7K savings

also we can count her income/savings or does it have to be only from the sponsor?

and by providing a job offer for my wife once she comes in the uk does that help the situation?

thanks for your help

You can count her savings, but not her income.

As your income shortfall is £5,600 - you'll need to show £30,000 of cash savings in accounts for the last 6 months.

A job offer for her here isn't useable as far as I know.

Does money held in Shares count to anything? as they do ask this in the application form

The income from share dividends can be counted as non-employment income - but otherwise, the guidance just says 'cash savings'.

thanks, this is the first time i've heard that you need 30K. i thought it has to be 16k if your income is less than 18k.

the savings is only counted in the last 6months or do they consider the overall 12months savings? also if I have around 7k in my account, could I get some cash from my parents ( to make the 16k) and say thats a gift to me?

The reason you need 30k is that the equation is £16k + (shortfall * 2.5).

You then need to show the same thing AGAIN at the 2.5 year mark.

So, yes, your parents could contribute - but the amount will have to be in your account for a period of 6 months prior to the application. So each of your bank statements for the 6 months will need to show savings above the 30k level.

thanks I guess its kind a impossible to have savings of 30K if the income is less than 16k. would it work if I add my parents savings on my account and keep it there for 6months and say thats mine, & was given as a gift to myself?

Only if yours and your parents savings equal at least 30k
