Hello,

I have to book an appointment for early November and have been trying for days now.
I keep getting an error message stating that there has been a technical fault. (I can understand if it says there are no slots but it only says that there has been an error).

Could someone please confirm if the UKBA website is acting up again (like in March/April this year when they had to open telephone lines to give appointments)?

Any best practices/guidelines will be highly appreciated.

The reason you are getting this error is that it’s too early for a November appointment now. You need to keep this in mind that the slots are only released 42 days (6 weeks) in advance. For example today is Tuesday, August 7, 2012; you can only book an appointment until Tuesday, September 18, 2012 which is exactly 42 days from today. You can’t book anything beyond 42 days.

Use the date calculator to work out your desired date in November. For example if you are looking book a slot for Monday, November 5, 2012, you need to do it on Monday, September 24, 2012.

I looked at the calender and the dates till 7th November can be selected (while dates beyond 7th Nov are 'disabled').
Hence I thought that I can book upto three months in advance.

Thanks for clarifying that its 6 weeks not three months (wonder why the dates are not disabled beyond 6 weeks though?!)

That’s true tier_2_applicant: I know this confuses people. I have also noticed that the dates beyond 42 days time are not greyed out but they should be. So most people assume that those dates are available to book.

I just tried to book just now 19.22, with the nearest dates as 8th Aug 2012 to 31 Aug 2012 , still the same message "We can not complete your appointment booking. This is due to a technical problem. Please try again later. " . So I don't think this particular message is because of the later dates, seems really a technical issue.God only help us
