Fiancé visa issued! What next

Post by sarah2012 » Wed Aug 08, 2012 2:26 am

So it is with the greatest relief I m writing this post! My future husband has been issued his 6month marriage visa to come to the UK. We will marry in october and as the preparations are all in hand for the wedding I would like to start preparing for our visa application to change visa type from fiancé to spouse. We submitted in Istanbul on 03/05/12 an the visa was issued 16/07/12. Can someone please confirm what form we need to complete as ukba site doesn't exactly help and wether I have to show earnings of 18600 or post rules apply to us!

Kindest regards

Future Mrs A

Congratulations first of all.

Your initial application to enter the UK for settlement was made prior to the new rules coming into place, therefore the 18.6k limit doesn't apply. The old rules apply instead.

Once you are married you can apply for FLR(M) - either by post or in person. Postal applications seem to take about three months according to people on this forum, personal applications are dealt with on the same day (but are more expensive). Because appointments are released 6 weeks in advance, you could theoretically book an appointment a few weeks before your wedding to take place immediately afterwards.
Fiancée visa application:
Documents received UKBA Bogotá: 18 May 2012
Visa approved: 19 June 2012
FLR(M) PEO Croydon: 13/11/2012, 2 Yr BRP received: 16/11/2012
SET(M) PEO Croydon: 24/10/2014, 10 Yr BRP received 28/10/2014

Thank you for your reply. So are you in the same position? We submitted our fiancé visa and should we just include the same details plus our marriage information? Will we need to include anything about future prospects e.g available jobs?

Most of the documents you need will be similar to those you used for the Fiance/ee application. Also look here:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... documents/

And here is the form:

And the guidance notes:

Once your partner is in the UK get their name on the Council Tax bill with yours, get them to open a bank account at the address you live at - these bills and statements will help evidence that you are living together, etc., when you make the FLR(M) application.

Bear in mind that your husband won't be able to work legally until FLR(M) has been granted.

So was just reading the guidance notes regarding accommodation in the above visa category.
We have a fiance visa and are marrying in a few weeks so just trying to get things in hand.

We live at a 3 bedroom property which we share with a family member.

Will this be an issue as we dont own or occupy the property exclusively?

Thank You
