Post by niruv » Thu Jan 04, 2007 3:04 pm

Hi Friends,

Finally i could manage to get a letter for the english language requirement form my University where my bachelors was done.

They have given me in the below format.
Is this sufficient?

TO WHOM SO EVER IT MAY CONCERN

This is to certify that Mr. XXXXXX was a student of this university in Bachelor of Commerce Degree program as English as medium of Instruction with Reg No: XXXXXXx from 1996 to 1999 at his own expense.

He obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree in First Division during the year 2001-2002 acadamic year

This is for your information

Assistant Registrar (U.G. Exams)
XXXXXXX University

Please suggest if this letter needs to be modified

Do i need to get the same form University where my masters was done?

Please suggest.

Thanks!!
Niruv.

doesnt state the date of award (the date on certificate). Guidance notes state that uni letters must say the day the award was awarded.

Not sure you need to say it was at your expense

also doesnt sound like someone who speaks English very well wrote it (not trying to be rude).

Guidance Notes state exactly what you need on this letter anyway.

I'm not saying this is perfect - but ive reworded it how my Oz uni did my letter:

====

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

This is to certify that Mr. XXXXXX, Reg No. XXXXXX, was a fulltime student at this university studying a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from 1996 to 1999 at his own expense.

All study was conducted in English.

He was awarded the Bachelor of Commerce degree in First Division on DD/MM/YYYY

applied DEC28, no reponse as yet

I am Australian, already in UK under HSMP applying for renewal

It was just an 'Enrolment services assistant' who signed my letter. I dont think it matters who signs the letter so long as there is a name+signature and the letter is on official letterhead with contact details etc
