It's a very BIG PHEW guys...

Finally my documents are back, exactly after 4 months (17 weeks)...

Just waiting for the BM cards to be delivered.

Summary of my story is follows;

1. Self employed
2. Booked premium service at Glasgow PEO, was ready to pay the money asked for
3. Turned away as Glasgow PEO cannot assess Self Employed / Limited Company applications. So don't book to Glasgow Premium if you are Self Employed. Your best bet is Croydon if not then Sheffield.
4. Sent in post as no other premium appointments available
5. 16 weeks to get the Biometric letters
6. 10 days from BM submission to document return

I wrote to the UKBA several times requesting to expedite my application on a genuine case. Neither work related travel nor compassionate grounds.

I got my Local MP to get behind me on my case, which she (or her Staff) did it very well. Hats off to them - and my vote to her was well worth.

I sent my last request on the 08th August to UKBA with a full line up of all supporting documents, evidence of the case, some 13 different documents / evidences.

Honestly I am not sure if I got my documents on the usualu processing time as it is already 17 weeks OR they actually expedite my application. There is no such mention.

Generally this forum is fabulous and very imformative.

If you have a very genuine case that you need your documents soon, I strongly advise you to get your MP involved and write to the UKBA with all of your genuine reasons with evidence of your case. I hope they will listen to you if your case is justifiable.

I owe one to "R&F" and "Melimango", their guidance and encouragement was the key that I wrote to my MP and wrote UKBA with all evidence, etc.

I got all my original documents I sent with my application in April. Returned in the Pre-Paid Self-Addressed Special Delivery pack I sent with the application.

None of the letters I sent afterwards were within the returned documents.

After reading all the previous posts, I think I should feel grateful even though this is my week 14 of waiting.
I think I should also share my timeline to help new friends of this site.

The only advice I give is just pay more for PEO! £500 and happiness, I choose hapiness and stress free. £500! I can earn that within a month, so, I rather exchanged 1 month hardwork for unforseen months of stressful life!!

I applied my spouse visa with PEO on 6/2010. We were very happy with the service and plan to have PEO when apply SET(M) after 2 years. But, the staff who was serving at that time said, why spent more for the same service? Postal is just as same as PEO, same process! (obviously is my stupidity to believe someone who shouldnt be trust easily)

OK, so I applied on 4/5/2012 with postal (no checking service)(and booked my ticket to oversea 16/6/12, as I thought the application will be approved before my expired date!! LOL, how naive I was!!)
and was received on 8/5/2012.
Then, I received my acknowledgement letter(from Sheffield) dated on 15/5/12. Payment deducted on 18/5/12. After that, just silence....

I forced to delay my trip(still naive,but luckily airlines made errors on my tickets so I got it changed for free) to 31/7/12.

Read from someone's post mentioned that MP could help to find some information, so, I wrote to my local MP on 6/7/12, and have the prompt positive reply from him on 11/7/12 :'I have spoken to the UKBA and they have actioned your application today. It will take approximately 10days to receive a reponse. If you have still have not received a response within the next 10 working days please get in touch.'
( so, I was thinking, if I didn't ask my MP to help me, when will I have to wait to have my application to start being process?)

Then, on 19/7/12, I received a letter dated on 16/7/2012 (from liverpool) for Biometric Enrollment. So, I went to LONGTON, Stoke on Trent post office on 20/7/2012 early morning.
THE POST OFFICE STAFF told me twice that I WILL receive my ID CARD WITHIN 2-3 weeks(3 weeks have just passed, should I make a complain to her about her MISLEADING).
Hahaha... so, obviously, this time I got lucky again as the airlines couldn't have my tickets postponed, so I have got FULLY refund of my tickets(finally I feel relieved and know that this is my 2nd chance not to be an idiot! so, I will wait until I got everything before I make any travel.)

As I saw someone applied on mid april has received the documents and card, so, hopefully I could get mine soon!
Will update my status once I received news

The result of this application:
I damn hate this country right now and so much regret to apply this settlement, as I decided to move out from this country forever after I received my visa(obviously, since I paid already). Hypocrite country and people(where is my right?), especially when UKBA intended to strike before olympic, shameless public servants, they didnt do their job well and yet ask for more?? We paid so much money and spent so much time in grief and stress, who give us sympathy, and yet, the only thing we can do is being silence and not allow to ask and know our status of application. We should go on to the street to protest they ruin our life with their terrible working attitude! Spouse visa, test exam fees, ILR visa, BRP enroll fee+transport fee, postal fees.... + priceless stress and time(where the money go to?? Dont forget people in the past pay nothing and without any stress and hassle in their applications)!Have we no pride and why allow them to treat us so badly!!! I feel so pain seeing people waiting for ages and hardly get a responed, just another kind of prisoner, no freedom to visit friends, and doesnt deserve an oversea holiday....

Hello guys,

I have found this forum to be a real life saver. What a nightmare we are all going through!

There is some light at the end of the tunnel but I am afraid it is just too late for me to make my flight on Thursday.

My timeline so far

Set O - UK Ancestry

Applied - Some time in middle of March not sure exactly maybe 15th
Money taken - 22 March 2012
Biometric letter - 28 April 2012
Submitted biometrics - 08 May 2012
BRP delivered on - 13 August 2012 (but was not at home to collect it!)
BRP scheduled to be re-delivered - 15 August 2012
Passport - Still waiting (please let it arrive today!)

That's 22 weeks by my reckoning.

Unfortunately I have to cancel my flight today...

I sent three begging letters and I don’t think it made any difference. I doubt that they expedite any requests. And for the record I found the customer service to be very poor. But then again they must get thousands of angry people phoning up every day and giving them an ear-full.

yes I did faxed them couple of times but all in vain......I requested in the fax to let us know what is the status of our application as it has been 5 months now!!!!!

Hi people, I used this board alot 2 years ago when my husband applied For his settlement visa. So we applied for his ilr set m on march 2nd through Stockport checking service. To be honest, after applying, we just left it, and thought lets wait till around July time. So July came and went, and that's when I started reading the board.

This is when I realised, people who applied in march had received biometric letters in April/may. My husband had not received a letter!!.....so I called the ukba on the 27th July, asking why we had not received a letter, I was told a letter had been sent out on 28 th April!!....which we ad not received.....you can imagine my annoyance! I was told another letter woud be sent out. So we received the new letter on 1st August, and he had his biometrics taken the next day. Iam soooooo angry and furios at UKBA. My husbands application has been delayed through no fault of our own. They say you shouldn't contact them, unless you applied over 6 months ago!!! , what if I had no access to this forum, and had waited 6 months!...it's a joke. Surely they should contact you if you havenot responded to the letter!! I really dnt think anyone would intentionally ignore a biometrics letter, especially after paying a hefty fee.

I have also written to my MP. He has written back confirming that he has enquired about my husbands application, and it is with the team,but has not been assigned a caseworker yet, so he has written a letter that the application be processed in a timely manner, as the delay was no fault on our part!!.

I don know if it will make a difference. It's so frustrating, feel like ripping my hair out!!

I received my passport and documents yesterday with the letter confirming approval of ILR. I got my BRP ILR today! Finally, the wait is over! It took me 20 weeks.

I sent faxes on Monday 6 August to the Liverpool office but I think the big difference was when I contacted my MP on Tuesday 7 August. I think because I waited 4 months, they had more sympathy for me. It probably would have been different if I had only been waiting for one month.

This waiting is killing me.

My 10yrs completed on the 10 sep 2011 , but after some royal balls ups by the almighty UKBA ( long story) , I have managed to apply on the 03/05/2012

I have my sympathy for everyone who is going through this ordeal.

I havent seen my family for years, due to no fault of mine.. and the pain continues...

I know its our choice , no one is forcing us, but, it just is not fair. We are all human, and right now I dont feel like one, because I havent been treated like one.

this forum is great and helps relieve stress but i am now coming to the end of my tether. I applied on March 23rd and have been waiting 21 weeks. I've contacted my MP and he wrote back to say he had enquired for me and is waiting for a reply. That was a month ago and still have not heard back. I've also contacted the High Commissioner for NZ (my home country) and they couldn't/wouldn't help me. Who must i go to next - Theresa May? I am desperate to get my passport back as I have qualified for the World Ironman Champs in Hawaii in October (equivalent to the Olympics in the world of Ironman Triathlon!) It has been an absolute dream of mine for years and I'm not sure I will ever get the chance again as it is so competitive. I can not bear to think that due to a poorly run and disorganised organisation, I will not get to achieve my dream after years of hard work. However, I still think my reason must pale in comparison to those of you who can't travel to see loved ones or family and friends who are ill or for those that cannot work. It's a totally trapped and helpless feeling. Even my husband got sick of waiting and has booked himself his own holidays abroad!!! I'm going to fax and write letters to immigration continuously until i hear something back. This is the most frustrating thing I have ever experienced. I feel like taking this to Parliament or higher to get noticed - surely we can do something more about this? If not to help us, then for future foreigners wishing to stay here.

there appear to a problem with march 2012 application. very few are receiving their document. ukba need to clarify the situation because biometric, should have more easy the process than make worse.i appliied march 10 bio done 8 may but still no sign of document. contact mp but no reply.
