When can apply british passport

Some guideline says you must be living legally in the uk at the time to apply British passport, kindly advice after getting ILR on 10 year basis can you apply straight for passport.

You should be free of immigration control for a period of atleast 1 year. So you can apply for BC after a year of getting your ILR.
