Caseworkers manual:

Step1: take their £335 and spend it at pub at lunch

Step2: Is tax return supplied ?

yes: Accept HSMP

no: Reject

Step3: Send it back to applicant

:-)

I wish Step 2 was that simple. I would have thought

Step 2:
Toss a Coin
Head: Accept
Tail: Reject

:-)

sorry, Step2 should have been:

Heads : reject
Tails : reject
Land on the coins side : approve (but only if they sent in Tax Return still)

:-) I have read atleast a couple of cases (over the last 15 days) in this very forum, where their application was rejected inspite of tax returns :-)

Moral of the story is, even with the Tax return you are not safe. You will need a bit of luck. I am sure shockboy does have plenty of luck :-) and hopefully, i will have some at the need of the hour. I am due to apply in 7 days (Just gathering some junk documentation)

I dont know the concept of advance tax, and I suspect the home office might find it equally difficult to understand. Here's the simple rule.

For the claimed period, submit the most recent Tax Returns. If the tax returns wont cover the entire period(which will normally be the case), you will need to provide alternate evidence for the rest of the period. This additional evidence is usually payslips and bankstatements.

webhunter, once again i m giving a brief structure of documentation..find the corrections.. :D

1) ITR Aug 2005- march 2006(8 months covered)
april 2006- dec 2006( 9 months advance tax)
2) letter from employer
3) wage slips for 12 months
4) letter from institute and university(english requirement)
5) degree certificate and transcripts (education proof)
6) Birth certificate( age assessment)

plz suggest me ,is these enough to file my application??

thanks

letter from institute and university

Why are you guys confusing the case worker by sending the both the letters when the guide specifically mentions university letter which should be enough. In fact it does also mentions do not send extra document which may not be relevant.

hey i am also wondering why so many people want to come to this cold miserable place..im just here for a contract, then i'm out of here like '93.

but back to your question...

make sure your employer letter states exact period/dates of income, the gross amount earned + net amounts paid to you each month - and total it up for the entire 12 month period you are claiming..
My employer made an Excel spreadsheet with it all, so it is easier to see what happened in each month and compare it to the wage slip. It will also show the same amount of the gross income you said you earnt on the actual HSMP application

still dont think advance tax slips will help at all because they dont show that you earned any of the money that you are paying tax on in advance. It shows that , at April2006 you ANTICIPATED earning a certain amount that year and therefore paid some tax up front, but you could have been earning 0 pounds every month from April2006-January2007...the advance tax payslip proves nothing about what you DID earn.
You've obviously still not talked to Home Office about it. My opinion is - dont even send advance tax forms in.
You have to remember the point of sending in ITR to Home Office is not to show you were paying tax somewhere, thats HMRCs job. It is to help PROVE you earnt the money, which can only be determined with documentation issued after you earnt it.

If you dont mind me asking, why can you not get bank statements ?

I feel shockboy2000's statement is correct. Advance Tax is like self assessment tax, and the guidance notes say that self assessments are not acceptable. If this can be accepted, then anyone will pay the tax (in advance) for the earnings required to gain enough points, and claim extension. Clearly, this will not be acceptable to HO. I think the Bank statements in this case will be suitable alternative evidence.
