Arugh...going mad

Post by cgoyer » Thu Aug 16, 2012 4:52 pm

Hello all,

First off - I'm really really happy for all of you who have gone through the mire of stress and anxiety that is waiting for your IRL to arrive and now have your passport and BRP in your hands :)

Unfortunately, I'm not one of them, and have noticed that people who have applied after me (postal application March 30 Ack letter April 4) have received theirs. It's so heart-breaking. Feel like my life is on hold. We need to move house, and I need to find a new job but feel like we are being held captive by the UKBA. I can't go home to visit my Mom in Canada, nor can my partner go anywhere as the UKBA still have his passport too. :(

Is it simply down to me getting a slow caseworker? Or should I start worrying that my Biometrics have gone astray or that something else is up?

I've been living in the UK for 6 years now. First two on a student visa, last four on Spouse/Unmarried Partner (two, two year visas applied and approved in a row). During that time, I have lived in the same place, and have been with my partner, so I can't see what's taking so long to approve. None of my previous visas took this long.

Considered approaching my MP, but he's Jeremy Hunt, so you can imagine how low down on his "to do list" I'd be.

Makes me so  I could  (and do, a lot).

I know no one can really help me, and most of us are in the same boat, but it does help to off load. Thanks for reading
C x

Hi all... been watching this for a while but never posted...this is where we are upto and I have a few questions.

My husband is a Mexican citizen married to a me British citizen, been on 2 year spouse visa, now applying as follows:

Application ILR - SET (M)
Documents sent - 20th July 2012
Documents received - 23rd July 2012 (sent over weekend)
Payment taken from bank account - 8th August 2012
Acknowledgement letter received -16th August 2012 (dated 8th Aug 2012)

The acknowledgement letter does not metion anything about biometrics? it simply states our application will be passed to the casework unit to await consideration. My husband did submit biometrics when he applied for the initial visa 2 years ago in Mexico city and when he flys in and out of uk uses his fingerprints on arrival, does this mean we skip this step???

Also does anyone know if cases are split by nationality, for example so many caseworkers deal with south america, so many look after india???

Thank you for your help and info and like all I am so happy to have found this site as i was loosing the plot even before we sent the visa!!!

@ Ambersmum123

Yes, your hubby needs to enrol his biometrics again, the invitation letter will get you in 1 or 2 months. They need proof it's the same person who applied 2 year ago. I had to take my biometrics twice as well.

Wish you luck with the process and be patient.

hi list
Here is the summary of my ILR application + 3 dependents.
applied on 4 Feb
ack. letter on 9 Feb
ilr stamped on 8 Aug
passports received via special del. envelope provided on 11 Aug

I have heard that apparently we could apply for naturalisation either one year after ilr stamp date or 15 months after when applying for ilr. Is this true? Any refrence if true please?
thanks
Arvin :)

Guys,

Ive been faxing them everyday for over a week now. Why cant they get back to me? I am so desperate, I feel so small right now, humilliated.

Whats happening?
Why people that applied after get their docs back so quickly?
Everything is perfect with my application, Ive provided everything they wantef from me - and why it takes so long?

Cant take it anymore.

youoz wrote:Morning folks, thought I'd share with you all where things are at with my ILR SET(O) app. I'm 1 week shy of an agonising 6months wait, so I feel all of your pain ... trust me. I called up my MP's office this morning and they offered to call UKBA and enquire where in the process my application is. Just received a call from the MP's office saying that the caseworker made their decision on my case yesterday (!) .... now the agonising wonder of what that decision is begins

UKBA said that the next stage is for the decision to be passed to the despatch team who will review the caseworker's decision (MP's exact words) and after that they will send it out to me. What does that mean, despatch team reviewing the caseworker's decision? Does that mean it was a negative decision? arghhhh who knows!!! I've been out of the UK for a lot more than 180 days due to holidays and lots and lots and lots of weekend trips (no trip more than 90 days) ...

I will update you all when I do receive my documents back - MP couldn't get out of UKBA when that may be, just that it won't be 'months'. In the meantime if anyone knows whether I should read anything into the MP's wordings of the despatch team reviewing the caseworker's decision then please let me know!
Did you receive your ILR or not yet???

Hello everyone,

I received my Passport and BRP yesterday. I had applied on 7th March and had submitted my biometrics on 30th March. But we are still waiting for my wife's FLR. Hopefully we should get it soon now.

What an agonizing frustrating wait it has been. There is just no justification for this poor service. I do hope that we all get to hear back from the Black Hole, also known as UKBA, soon.

Ciao..
