I feel shockboy2000's statement is correct. Advance Tax is like self assessment tax, and the guidance notes say that self assessments are not acceptable. If this can be accepted, then anyone will pay the tax (in advance) for the earnings required to gain enough points, and claim extension. Clearly, this will not be acceptable to HO. I think the Bank statements in this case will be suitable alternative evidence.shockboy2000 wrote: still dont think advance tax slips will help at all because they dont show that you earned any of the money that you are paying tax on in advance. It shows that , at April2006 you ANTICIPATED earning a certain amount that year and therefore paid some tax up front, but you could have been earning 0 pounds every month from April2006-January2007...the advance tax payslip proves nothing about what you DID earn.
You've obviously still not talked to Home Office about it. My opinion is - dont even send advance tax forms in.
You have to remember the point of sending in ITR is not to show you were paying tax somewhere, thats HMRCs job. It is to help PROVE you earnt the money, which can only be determined with documentation issued after you earnt it.
