EU Travel Visa Confused!

Post by vimalkm » Mon Jul 09, 2012 12:01 pm

Hi Guys,

Far too much information available and i am not sure which suits me and which does'nt and I am desp trying to find help and hopefully you guys will help me here!

I am an Indian Citizen married to a British Citizen. We have been married for over 2 years and I am on Indefinite leave to remain(ILR).

My poor wife going through all the hassle of these visas for me getting to this point we have avoided travel to Europe. And i feel bad that she has not travelled to Europe for over 2 yrs now. Now we are thinking of making a 1 week trip to Spain.

All this EU/EEA Residency is far too confusing for me. I understand I need to get a Spanish Visa(Schengan). Now that is fine.BUT do i need to show bank statements/p-60, travel tickets etc? Does not become easier if i am travelling with my wife?

Please please please can any one help me....any one who has travelled to Spain on an ILR with his/her partner please help me. I sent 3 emails to Spanish Embassy no reply as of today. I called them and enquired and they said just wait for a reply to the emails.

any help would be hugely appreciated guys.

Thank You,
Vimal

One more thing

Post by vimalkm » Mon Jul 09, 2012 12:05 pm

Oh sorry guys.....one more thing. From my limited knowledge i understand that i can prove i dont need a visa etc and prove this at the Airport. But i really dont want to do it. The experience i have had with the these immigration officers is that they are not the most sympathetic or good listeners.

Thank You and please help!

Hi vimalkm,

unfortunately it´s confusing, but then again, not that much...

You may travel without visa, and it´s described here:
http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=95372

If you want a visa anyway, a general explication on how to get a visa is given here:
http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=102396
(since you´re an EEA family-member you would just have to provide your marriage certificate and both passports, end-of-story)

If you have specific questions, just ask :)

Rgds,
Christian

Hi Christian,

I have posted 2 documents from the Spanish Embassy following my enquiry to them.

Application Checklist: In this document in the second page it says
All Applicants:
Flights, train or ferry tickets. (Issued
ONLY by the carrier company. Please note
that we DO NOT accept documents issued
by Travel Agencies)

But in the New Schengen Info:
It says I dont need any flights or insurance as i am a family member of the EU.

So here is the question will i require to book flights /insurance etc?

thanks again for helping me out here.
