Work permit to Tier2 general

Hi,

I was given WP for 5years, but I came to UK 4 month late which makes my total stay in UK 4 years 8 months by the time visa expires. Do I need to switch to tier2 to extend my stay? I got COS for Tier2 from my employer. Will I get eligibility for ILR after staying 4moths on tier2?

Here is the dates

Visa valid period: 30th Nov 2007 to 30Nov 2012
Date of 1st entry: 2nd April 2008
