citizenship

Post by seraph » Wed Aug 29, 2012 3:50 pm

The minister announced during last citizenship ceremony that 7000 applicants will be granted citizenship during Oct/Dec ceremony. That means next ceremony is for 3000 or 4000 people? As there is only six weeks for the next ceremony may be it is only for 3000 people. Or may be 3500 each, I don't know.

the ceremony was absolutely amazing.. I never laughed as much, i thought it would be extremely formal, but it was such a relaxing atmosphere. Thanks to everyone on this forum, wishing you all the best, and i do believe Minister Shatter is a man of his word. Well done and good luck to you all who are waiting.

Do any body knows what is the exact backlog ,when our long waiting will be over I mean for the people who r waiting since three four and even five years ,please god help those people as it is very depressing and frustrating for those people who r waiting for these length of times and some people r getting their decisions in one year or less ,this is no justice and unfair ,what minister has to say about that???I know few people who r becoming patient of depression because of this treatment which they r getting from the department ,what is the answer minister has for these people???what is their fault what wrong they did to deserve this???

The reality is they give priority to those applicant who pay tax and family members come last. Also they are looking at the backlog backwards to imply that they are processing applications faster.

So basically this is how they priorities, have you applied recently? are you paying tax? if the answer to both is "yes" you are one of the lucky ones, if you answer "no" to at least one of these, you can wait FOR EVER

I don't think that is necessarily true, My friend applied in 2008, we both got our naturalization together. Another lady who i spoke with at the ceremony applied in 2010... so the train is moving.
