HSMP to Work permit

Post by cagrawal » Tue Jan 09, 2007 4:05 pm

Hi,

I am on HSMP in UK. I need to ask this question. I for any reason I need to switch to WP, does my 5 yr clock for getting the PR gets reset. Do I have to wait for another 5 yrs to get the PR?

Regards,
Chandan

HI shockboy2000,

Are you sure about this? I am trying to read different guides and nowhere they say about this reset. All they want is that the period is total 5 years.

Chandan

Yes, even as per my knowledge, total of 5 years in UK is enough to get PR no restrictions on WP // HSMP...

its been bounced around this forum already AND over on ukresidents.com - the immigration lawyers have confirmed with HomeOffice that going HSMP->WP = start again for permanent residency

thats one (of many) reason so many people are complaining about new rules trying to get people out of country / not get ILR

Post by cagrawal » Tue Jan 09, 2007 6:48 pm

Hi,

Is there any rule that applies to switching the category from WP to HSMP. Are we in mess either way?

Chandan

Work permit to HSMP switching allows time to be combined when applying for ILR as a highly skilled migrant.
