10 yrs long res & dependants

Dear All,

I am asking the below questions on behalf of my friend.

My friend will qualify for 10 years long res. on 15 Oct 2012 (5 years Student + 3 years dependent visa)

Can he include his wife with the application ( last three years he has been the dependent of his wife who currently got Student visa)

Moreover, wife cannot be included.
