Time away from uk

Hi
My wife is currently a spouse visa and in one years time she will have been married to me for 2 years and will be able to apply for indefinite leave to remain.
However last week she got a call that her mum has terminal cancer in her native Russia and she's flown back to be with her.
The likelihood is she will have to give up her uk job and spend maybe six months away from the uk.
Will this affect her ILR application?
How many days is someone allowed out of the uk in the two years between marriage and ILR?

Or would we get special treatment, if so what documents should she be keeping copies of?
