I am in the same boat as you and I find it all a bit nerve wrecking. I've got paperwork coming out of my ears.

Does anyone know how far back the paperwork should go as they say on UKBA that the marriage should have lasted at least 3 years, so I take it, it's 3 years only?

Under the the right of retention. You are to provide evidence for 1 year residing in the uk . And she was excersing her treaty right as at the time of divorce , which is a enough.
