Tier-2 ICT new born baby VISA

Post by lshettyl » Sat Aug 25, 2012 12:10 pm

Hi everyone,
Here is my situation. I am in the UK (London) on a Tier 2 ICT visa for the past 2 years and I have another year to go. My wife has also been with me on a T2 ICT Dependant visa and at the moment she is in India (for the past 4 months & will be there for the next 4 months, May 2012 - Dec 2012) as we have a 1 month old newborn (born in India). I would be going to Indian for 2 months (Nov 2012 - Dec 2012) and we would all (3 of us) come back in Jan 2013. So, here are my questions:

1. Since both parents (my wife and I) will be in India, would it be a problem to apply for the dependant visa for our baby or does one of us need to be in the UK?

2. Do I need any letter from my company for my baby's visa?

3. Do I need any letter from the Indian embassy in London?

4. Can we apply for my baby's passport while I am still in London?

5. Any other problems you could think of?

I would really appreciate your valuable response on this.

Hi there,

Firstly congratulations on your new born baby! Regarding your queries -

1. Since both parents (my wife and I) will be in India, would it be a problem to apply for the dependant visa for our baby or does one of us need to be in the UK?

=> No issues in applying for a dependent visa from India.

2. Do I need any letter from my company for my baby's visa?

=> Normally if you are on a company sponsored visa, your company's travel & immigration team should take care of all the dependent visa related formalities. If not, you may take a cover letter from the company confirming your employment status, maintenance support for the dependent for first month (in case you have not maintained sufficient balance for past 3 months)

3. Do I need any letter from the Indian embassy in London?

=> If you are applying visa for baby from India, this is not required.

4. Can we apply for my baby's passport while I am still in London?

=> Yes. Your wife can initiate the visa process from India while you are in the UK. Submit the application online, book an appointment, furnish all the relevant documents ( original + photocopy )

5. Any other problems you could think of?

=> As long as the application is submitted with accurate information and all the relevant documents are provided to the UKBA, I do not expect any issues. Visa should be granted in approx 3-4 weeks.

Hey, thank you so much "lawabidingimmigrant" ;) that helped me a lot. Now that I am at the next phase of the application, I would really appreciate if you (or anyone out here) could please help me with the following:

1) Is there a separate dependant (5 month old child of a tier 2 ICT long term staff) visa application form that I can use to apply online/in person?

2) Is that an online application or download the form and fill in manually?

3) Any idea about the application fee?

Thank you so much.
