There is an e-petition put up that we should help get some attention.

Your petition is unclear. Are you referring to visa applications made from outside the UK or applications for leave to remain made from inside the UK. A visa is only issued from outside the UK.

I was not the author of the Petition and I guess it should have specified both Leave to remain and Visa. The passport is held in both cases. If UKBA is influenced to change on, I am sure they would be convinced to change the other.
Either way, I believe it needs all the support it can get.
