Contacting UKBA on email

Hi,

I am aware that till some time back, one could contact UKBA on email by sending an email to UKBApublicenquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk. UKBA's site does not mention this email address any more (as far as I can tell), or any other email address for that matter. I sent a brief (test) email to UKBApublicenquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk which did not bounce but did not elicit an auto response as well (unlike earlier when this email address was mentioned on UKBA's web site).

I am also aware that there is a contact phone number which I can call (0870 606 7766) but I shudder at the prospect of attempting to reach UKBA on phone. Besides, if I seek a clarification from UKBA, I would prefer a written (and electronic) response and not a verbal one.

Am I missing something here? Or has UKBA gone one step ahead in making life difficult for migrants?
