Mandarin,

Try emailing them if not phoning them, send an email to all those email addresses I had gathered, someone somewhere will respond, someone somewhere knows something.

Thanks for the swift replies! Yes, I will email them on all those addresses. As for calling, is there a number? I thought the BHC did not entertain calls.

Very mystery noir. I can't help thinking that myself. Any names or faces, anything. It's like a black hole. I will do my best to contact them in some way.

It will be a week before you have your TB test done, usually costs 4000 rupees.

As for the time taken to give the passport back, you're looking at anywhere between 3 and 8 weeks. Some people are lucky and get it back quick, others unlucky and it takes several weeks.

We got the appeal over-turn letter last november. my wife had tb desease so it took several months to clear. now we have finally got the tb test and have submitted it last week.

do you think there will be a problem because we have given the passport/certificate late?

A year before submitting? That's unheard of, I don't know how it affects your circumstances and your appeal, that's the first I've heard of someone taking so long to submit docs.

I got a reply from the visaenquiries address that I should wait to be contacted as my appeal will be further processed in the near future.

It's ok with me, though I believe I should be paid back the appeal fee.

Can someone please guide me on who to contact to enquire about a spouse settlement appeal?

My brother-in-laws visa was recently rejected and we lodged the appeal on 05/07/2012 and they replied with a letter in mid august stating that they will give a decision on 21/1/2013. Is there any chance tey are reviewing his case. It was refused on english listening certificate not being presented. He also did not sit the reading and writing exam but did do a listening test. Any help would be much appreciated JZK

It's a bit quiet at the moment, but rest assured when you do get a response, it's often when you least expect and it's a pleasant surprise.

There was an article I read recently which stated that appeals are processed more efficiently in Abu Dhabi than in Islamabad, which is why many Islamabad appellants hang around waiting longer.

That is an interesting observation. Abu Dhabi is also very efficient and professional in terms of responding to emails.

Completed 4th week. Entering 5th. So much easier to wait if they only sent in the call letter. I hope contacting MP will help at this time. Will keep you posted.

Mandarin,

What stage are you now at? You still not heard anything? If not, I would suggest you have another crack at emailing them, but this time with more emphasis on why you need your documents back fast. I know of someone who said he needed his Degree certificate back fast and they responded by giving his passport back the following week and apologising for the lengthy delay.

King, I am still awaiting the call letter. One month is up, and now the 5th week of waiting begins. I just got a very general response to an email I wrote some time ago... that my appeal is undergoing further processing, and that I should wait. As for documents, that would have been a great idea but they returned all originals at the time of refusal.

Thanks again for the advice :)

I advise you to request your MP to contact the BHC. I can see no pattern emerge from the appeals process. Some appeals get delayed for months, others a few days. There seems to be no relevance to dates of submission, issuance of call letters, passport returns.. everyone faces their own unique timeline. If only there was a sense, an organized time frame, a good correspondence handling unit, a name or face to talk to.... it is all sheer luck at the moment.
