Can I change from T2 Long Term ICT to Tier 1?

Hi

I entered UK on a Tier 2 Long term staff ICT in Feb 2012. IT is valid till Feb 2015. I want to change to Tier 1 general, can I do this while I am with my current employer. What does my employer need to do if I want to do this?

Tier 1 general is closed to new applicants and has been for some time.

If it is closed, what will be my options after 5 years (assuming the rules stay the same). My visa can be extended till 2017. Can I switch to Tier 2 General with the same employer in 2015? If I want to stay with the same employer beyond 2017, what can i do. If I want to change to a new employer and switch to Tier 2 general, how long will that be valid for?

Or would i be able to apply for settlement after 5 years with tier 2 (ICT or general or ICT+General)
