Tier 1 general extension ( maintenance funds)

Post by Shawnmirza » Thu Oct 11, 2012 9:00 pm

Hi

This is an urgent enquiry can anyone help please.

I need to apply for extension for me and my wife and two kids in December 2012 and I am maintaining funds in HSBC fixed deposit which I am maintaining since April 2012 and this can be liquidated at any time.

If I get a letter from bank would this be considered or not.

Can I use these funds in fixed deposit as a proof of funds?

Please advice as I m really worried

Also can you please confirm how much funds do I need?

Hi Shawnmirza,

Yes, you can use these funds in fixed deposit as a proof of maintenance fund for you and your family provided it's enough to cover you all.

If you've been in the UK for more than 12 months, you need to save £900 for yourself and £600 each for your dependants (wife and 2 kids) i.e 600 X 3 = £1800.

Therefore, the total is £900 + £1800 = £2700.

Goodluck

Many thanks for your reply

I am maintaining about £3700 in total

Some of the threads say that I can't use fixed deposits

Can you inform what sort of letter I would be needing from the bank

something which mentions 'details of FD' you are talking about and also the wording that XYZ FD as mentioned here can be 'liquidated any time' as per choice of FD holder.

What you can call like 'flexi-FD'?
