Recommendation for immigration solicitors in London

Post by Sarah30 » Wed Oct 24, 2012 7:07 am

Can anyone recommend some good immigration solicitors in London who specialise in spouse visa refusal and particularily 'indefinite leave to enter'. Since both my and my spouse live in Pakistan we need a reliable solicitor who would appear on our behalf at the appeal hearing. Any help/advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sarah you can google for a number of legal firms in London specifically if you like. If you need a representative, I would go for one which has an established reputation. The cost of having someone represent you is between £500 and £1000, unfortunately the amount they charge often isn't a reflection of the work they do.

Thank you king2be. I have googled but the problem is that among so many companies I have no idea who is reliable and who is not so just wanted to know if anyone can recommend anyone that they have had a positive experience with.

I have read your many helpful and straight to the point posts and have found them very useful. Can you please advise if it would be better to go for a paper hearing or a oral hearing keeping in mind that both me and my husband live in Pakistan so neither of us will be able to attend the oral hearing. So in that case would it be better to ask for a paper appeal or ask a solicitor to represent us at the hearing.

Your advise will be appreciated.

Please can you tell me what the refusal letter says?

It depends on the refusal points. If they are absolutely basic and you can cover them in yoru grounds of appeal adequately, then a paper hearing will suffice, but if it's more complicated, then an oral hearing is recommended as you can then argue in person to the rejection points in court.

If you're not refused yet, don't worry, come abck to for help, if and when you are refused, because it's pointless stress otherwise.

I'm confused. You mention applying for a spouse visa and ILR. Do you mean ILE for a spouse under the pre-9th July rules? i.e married for a minimum of 4 years and living together outside of the UK throughout the whole of this period?

Yes I have applied for 'indefinite Leave to Enter' based on 4 year rule. Want to plan in advance for appeal in case it gets refused. Worried about adequate accommodation. We have recently purchased a 1 bedroom flat with 1 living room but now not sure this will be adequate for a couple with 2 minor children. We also have another 3 bedroom house but that's rented out, but in the application I mentioned we would be staying in the 1 bedroom flat. Would like to prepare in case it's refused for not adequate accommodation what should I do in that case. I won't have time to get an inspection carried out at the last moment.. Any advise would be appreciated.
