Good news to share

Post by TnT-FreaK » Thu Nov 01, 2012 8:58 am

Our long wait is finally over. When I reached home yesterday there was Royal mail letter to collect a delivery.

This morning when I went to the post office we had the letter with all our documents confirming the visa has been granted and will receive BRP in 7 days.

Here is our timeline

Application sent: 4 July 2012
Acknowledgement letter date: 9 July 2012
Biometrics letter received: 3 Sep 2012 (letter dated 31 Aug 2012)
Biometrics enrolled: 4 Sep 2012
Documents returned: 31 Oct 2012 (letter dated 30 Oct 2012)
BRP: waiting... hopefully arrives in 7 days

Holy hell TnT-Freak! Congratulations! I applied the day before you... and I have a Royal Mail Delivery slip waiting for me to collect a parcel! I thought it was just something from Amazon... but now I'm going to race down there! *Must not get over-excited*

Do you mind saying what time of visa you were swapping from, and which category of FLR(M) you are changing to?

Thank you everyone, it definitely is a big relief.

We were transferring from a PSW visa to FLR M. I dont know that FLR M has categories, but I guess if there is one, we were in the marriage category.

Yeah - that's what I meant (not 'categories' per se).

I'm really so pleased for you. Keep your fingers crossed for me, I'm going to the post office depot at lunch!

But i don't understand why UKBA is processing latter applications first. How can they claim its first come first serve when clearly earlier applications are still awaiting decisions?? I am happy for all the people getting the visas but i just think UKBA isn't playing it fair!!!

Yeah I agree with you completely

If they working to keep statistics looking good then I find it disgusting.

A lot of people's lives on hold because of them and they show no remorse .

Unbelievable!

It does seem quite unfair, however maybe it has to do with how complex the applications are and if they have to investiagte them further they go back into a pile or something until they 'decide' to pick it up again.

I think it might depend on which caseworker picks up the file, which is in other words, crap because again, no consistency and it's not fair on the people who have been waiting.

I feel for everyone who has had to wait more than 6 months (even though 6 months even seems WAY too long for a service we pay good money for in the first place!)

It just seems quite out of place and i do agree with the theory that UKBA is doing this to show better statistics! if it wasnt for that than how come there is a gap between February and July's application? as if all march and April's applications were not straight forward. I applied in April and my application is pretty straight forward.

False alarm - my package was indeed from Amazon. I got FAR too excited, only to be greatly disappointed. Ugh.

Still, I am encouraged by TnT's story.

TnT - did you request anything back, or did this happen indepentently of any intervention?

Daiyan - I feel your pain. I am a March applicant.

Whilst I am happy for those getting their visas and not having to wait so long, it is terribly unfair. This has been such a hard 8 months and not the way that anyone would want to start their married life.

I don't buy the 'complex applications' stuff either. My application is straightforward, and in any case they had determined June and July applications before mine had even been started. My theory is that batches of applications from June onwards have been passed to a contractor to clear, where the UKBA team has retained the older ones.

I did request the sponsor passport back but that was around mid-September. We needed it for ID purposes.

Sorry, I didn't mean to say that they were all complex. The UKBA would probabaly use that as an excuse to why June or later applicants are being decided before the earlier applicants.

It's most definetly to keep the numbers and stats up for this quarter, which agreed - not fair in the slighest.

Sorry CDNgirl, in my ranting I wasn't being clear. I wasn't referring to what you said, I was referring to the fact that UKBA very frequently use it as an excuse as to why some apps are done quicker than others. They have claimed such in FOI requests and in the Parliamentary committee. It's now become very obvious that it's not true.

I wish there was an effective way to complain, not to the UKBA, but about the UKBA.
