Hi,

If you are able to follow the guidelines as outlined, then you wouldn't have to retain a Lawyer.
Life is short, so let's get moving!
* Passport received: Family Permit approved AUG-22, 2011
* Landed in the UK: DEC-04TH-2011
* Received RC: MAR-21ST-2012
* Back to North-America Jul 2012

Yes, but you will have to read and understand the policy guidance.

The requirements for this category of leave are in the policy guidance. Anything that is not mentioned in that document (such as English proficiency) is not necessary.

As far as I know, only the main applicant needs to take the IELTS. In my case, my employer is applying for the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), and I just sat the test. My wife and son didn't have to.
