Marrying in Pakistan?

Am marrying my Pakistani girlfriend in Pakistan next month but she tells me that I don't need to show any letter as such there ie 'freedom to marry' so am just wondering does this mean I can just go there and do it although I would take important documentation of my own with me just to be on the safe side?
