which location is best?

Post by gct_123 » Tue Jan 23, 2007 4:11 pm

Dear Form Members -

My current company has agreed to move me to UK and I have a choice to choose my work location. The company has offices in London, Brentford, Manchester and Livingston. I am yet to negotiate on salary part.

I need help of experts in choosing any of these locations taking into consideration

1. Cost of living
2. Socialization (where I can find more Indians)
3. Climate (warmer the better)

I prefer to stay in the city not at some remote places, should be well connected with all major places, easy to commute etc.

Any suggestions will be high appreciated.

Thank you

from what is implied from your wants at the back end of your message is that you prefer to be in London....

London is a bit pricey - but it will all depend on the individual

Would you mind telling what profession you are in ?
Sounds like there are quite a few companies out there offering a multitude of locations to choose from, for their esteemed employees.
Darn it ! I do nearly 80miles one-way for my daily bread, hmmm may be its time for a change?

gct_123,
Reason why I asked is, I'm on the receiving end of the stick in same business, so I wonder how it is feasible for an IT employer to offer a choice of locations to their new employees considering the overall nature and the way it is run -especially the dynamic side.

Of course, there may be other exceptions like back offices, call centre support etc but they are quite different from pureplay IT.

vin123,

I am into IT consulting and most of the time i would be spending at client side or working from remote locations.

Thanks
