FINAL UPDATE

This is a SET(M) for Spouse of BC + 1 Child Dependant (combined application)

Submitted Application via SCS : 03 July 2012

Acknowledgement Letter Received : 12 July 2012

Payment Taken : 09 July 2012

Biometric Letter Received (child dependant) : 01 September 2012
Biometric Letter Received (spouse) : 24 September 2012

Biometrics Processed (child dependant) : 03 September 2012
Biometrics Processed (spouse) : 25 September 2012

Approval Letter (child dependant) : TBC
Approval Letter (spouse) : 10 November 2012

BRP Received (child dependant) : 12 November
BRP Recieved (spouse) : 12 November

So that's it. Process complete, finally!

A little over 4 months which seems to be, generally speaking, the average for a SET(M) application.

Good luck to everyone and once again thank you to all the posters and mods etc who helped out and answered my queries.

Take care and keep the faith.

ukba Customer Complaints

Post by sheford » Mon Nov 12, 2012 2:19 pm

Hi All,

I think we should all send such email to raised the concern to Home office.

thanks "smshad" for his effort on writing/sharing this email.

email sent to: UKBACustomerComplaints@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

Subject: Feedback regarding Service standards – SET (O) ILR

Dear Sir / Madam,

I have read on UKBA website that Home Office welcomes comments to resolves the complaints and improve the services. I would like to bring to your attention an issue related to service standards regarding ILR application process.

I find out that almost all applicants who applied on SET (O) stay in the UK category between mid June 2012 to mid August 2012 are still waiting for their BRP/Biometrics invitation letters from Home Office, whereas applicants who applied in late August 2012 (on and after 24/08/2012) have already received their Biometric invitation letters from Home Office in last week of October. I find out this information from various forums where applicants share their visa application timelines.

I believe that Home Office deals with applications in the order they are received until there is any compelling circumstances. Because applications sent at later dates have received there Biometric invitation letters this has become a reason of concern for applicants who sent their applications earlier. Could you please investigate or raise it with relevant teams.

I would like to mention here that I am also an applicant under the same category but I do not intend to raise my individual case but as an issue faced by a group of applicants who applied for ILR on SET (O) between mid of June 2012 to mid of August 2012.

I will be grateful to you if you please raise this concern with relevant teams.

Kind regards,

full name
address
Email:

Home office reference number: IL....
Application sent: 11th August, 2012.
Acknowledgment letter received: Dated 16th August, 2012.
Biometric invitation letter: Not received until 05th November, 2012.

UKBA case backlog
Current asylum cases 25,500
Asylum "controlled archive" 74,000
Current immigration cases: 3,500
Immigration "controlled archive": 21,000
Migration Refusal Pool 174,057
Former foreign prisoners: 3,954
Untraced former foreign prisoners: 53
Total: 302,064

The UKBA has pledged to close the controlled archives by the end of 2012, but MPs said they were not convinced final checks on each case could be done to an acceptable standard, given that only 149 staff were dealing with them.

Do you receive letter for biometry by normal post or recorded ? Coz post man in our neighbourhood has been dropping letters to wrong houses frequently so not sure if UKBA have already sent me the letter ,
Problem is tried ringing UKBA many times, very rude persons keep saying 6 months not yet, keep waiting !
Anyone has experience if if biometry request sent or not PLEASE HELP !!

MY TIME LINES
1. Current visa: TIER 1 GENERAL
2. Date of expiry of current leave: 01/08/2012
3. Application form used for ILR: SET (O)
4. Number of dependants applying at same time: 2
5. Date application posted: 25-07-2012
6. Date application received at UKBA: 26-07-2012
7. Date payment debited: 13/08/2012-2012
8. Payment mode : Debit card plus cheque(I had sent both cheque and card details in case card does not work, UKBA took payment by both method, took payment twice , I have not asked the money back as fear they might say Iam withdrawing my application back, so waiting untill decision made. )
9. Acknowledgement letter posted by UKBA: 10-08-2012 (received 13/08/2012)
10. Biometric letter waiting
11. Date of biometrics waiting
12. Date of approval: WAITING
13. Date of return of passport and other documents: WAITING

Hi Guys,

Just to update you all i have recieved my Passport and BRP on 31-10-2012.

It started with an approval letter first, followed by the passport and then the BRP.

Overall i am satisfied with the service from Home office since they completed and returned my passport in 4 months time that is well within the 6 months time frame.

Good luck to all waiting.

Just wondering what everyone has in mind for set (o) applications since it's coming up to 6 months now for many of us. I was thinking of lodging an official complaint against the UKBA standards of service, but if and only if it crosses the 6 month limit. I was thinking of getting a petition signed by everyone who's application has taken longer than 6 months and send it along with the official complaint. We've paid thousands to these guys, and backlogs is not our fault, they should have the necessary workforce in place to deal with the applications. Olympics is a poor excuse because they knew the Olympics were gonna happen 5 years ago and should have prepared!

I believe that if we send the complaint along with a petition signed by many, it will make a difference!

BRP invitation

Post by uchida » Thu Nov 15, 2012 12:32 pm

Hi guys,
I hope this is not a stupid question. Does the receipt of a BRP invitation letter mean that your application is very genuine and receipt of an ILR is high? Or is it just a standard bug standards letter sent out despite how frivolous your claims are?

I believe this is just a standard procedure, they won't even look at your case if you haven't done your biometric enrolment.

Please wait for more answer.

A BRP inviation simply means that your application is valid and the payment has been processed and "NOTHING MORE"!!

My daughter applied for ILR in March 2011. When she call the Home Office they said they sent back her passport in July 2011 but she hasn't received it. They wont give her any information about her status. If she was approved and stamp is in her passport and now passport lost. What should she do. Please help.

Check with the delivery company if they have submitted the passport. It should be a recorded delivery so your passport shouldn't get lost.
