Negative experience at US airport

Post by global gypsy » Sat Nov 17, 2012 10:58 pm

I am a dual citizen of Canada and UK.
Recently I traveled to the US on a brief visit to meet up with my friends. At the airport I was detained for close to 45 mins because the immigration authorities felt that my dual citizenship was "not normal"! I had to convince them that I was just on a short visit and that I wouldn't try to settle down there!
Never had such an experience before. What's with these US immigration folks these days??

Did you travel on your UK or Canada documents?

I entered the US on my Canadian passport. Also had my UK passport with me, which I had to produce to prove my country of residence and that I would be able to return to the UK. In all my previous trips, the US immigration folks would look my Canadian passport, stamp my 6-month visa in a minute or so. Not this time!
