Which visa (if any) does a Brazilian contractor need?

Post by TommyGG » Tue Dec 04, 2012 5:59 pm

Hello!

We are a small UK startup (Limited company) and for the last 12 months or so we've hired the services of a Brazilian graphic designer on a rolling contract who works from home.

We're doing well now, and have invited him over for 10 days to our office in London to meet him and work with him for a few days. This will be his first time travelling outside Brazil, he's just got a passport.

I've phoned several places up, various embassy's, border control etc etc and no one is willing to help me work out which visa he should be applying for.

Can anyone please help us? Does he need a visa?

Thank you for any help!

Does he meet the requriements of the business visitor visa?

If yes he can be granted one on entry. If no he needs to apply for the relevant visa before departing.

Thanks for the reply.

I've read about the Business Visitor visa and I'm unsure if he fits the requirements as we will be paying him for his time here.

Also, doesn't applying on entry cost £600?

Thanks for your reply!

The business visitor makes a lot of mention of "employment" and "salary". Does this apply for contractors?
