Post by stokbrig » Fri Dec 14, 2012 3:35 am

can anybody advise on 7.12 in the new SET(O) form;
7.12. Please state what ties you have with;
• The country where you were born
• Any other country whose nationality you hold
• Any country where you have lived for more than 5 years
You should tell us about any family, friends, or other connections with that country.

Could anyone can suggest that what needs to be filled up in the page 18, 7.12 question in new SET(O) form?

The country where you were born
• Any other country whose nationality you hold
• Any country where you have lived for more than 5 years
You should tell us about any family, friends, or other connections with that country.

The question appears quite straightforward. You should list any countries you currently have any ties with and what those ties are.

E.g. If you have family, property or are part-employed by an employer (paid) in your home country or any other country. If you have lived somewhere for over 5 years, or if you are currently a dual citizen... They have given examples of what they consider to be ties, to make it easier to fill this section as well.

My understanding of this question is that the UKBA would like to understand whether you have strong ties to another country(s), which may or may not be the country(s) you are currently a citizen of.
