@damanisshallo and spidery_thread

1)how long for you both took to get the ack ltr since initial application.

2)just a curiosity, both dependents visa finished same time or similar to my case ?

3)and more or less, how about the bio-metric invitation letter ? does both of you and your dependents got it same time or with few days difference ? or still waiting.

sorry for being a nuisance and with silly questions guys, and please tolerate this coz i will be traveling in your boat from jan 2013

Dear Friends,

I have been a silent reader of this forum which give me many great advices and strength. Today, I received my ILR. I have been waiting painfully for it to arrive within 6 months and got it finally.

Here is my timeline:

Category: Set (O) 10 year residency (Student for 10 years)
Application sent: 14/06/2012
Acknowledgment received: 18/ 06/ 2012
Biometric Invitation dated: 07/ 08/ 2012
Biometric Given on: 09/ 08/ 2012
ILR Stamped on: 11/ 12/ 2012
BRP received on: 14/ 12/ 2012 ( DX Secure Delivery Ltd)
Documents: Waiting :)

I did not use a solicitor because of being a straight forward case. No previous visa refusals, No criminal records, always on time visa extensions. And, I always read UKBA website and this very helpful and useful forum before I applied. It took exactly six months for the outcome.

Documents sent:
1) Set (O) form with 2 photos
2) Passports covering 10 years with visas
3) GP letter confirming 10 years registration
4) Payslip, Bank Statement and P60
5) SAR file to show on-time applications
6) Reference letter from an association where I volunteer

Good luck to you all who are waiting for UKBA decision. :D

@z18runway,

We both received separate acknowledgement letters(cover letter with FLR(M) tells HO that this application in dependant on ILR and both applications are made at the same time) a week from applying, thou they came on different days, mine was a day before.

@z18runway,

1) 1 Week.

2) My dependants visas expired at the same time as mine.

3) Bio Inv arrived with few days difference as they come from different departments[ILR & FLR(M)].

After that your applications will be linked on HO system as family.

You'll get decision first on ILR as FLR(M) is dependant on ILR, once ILR is issued, FLR(M) will be automatically issued(if meets all relevant immigration requirements, at the time of the application).

@z18runway,

They get linked on HO system, applicants don't get confirmation of this. It can be confirmed by a supervisor at the call centre or the case working team.

Family Applications

Post by Spidery_thread » Sat Dec 15, 2012 9:16 am

If you have dependant applications in the past(even both main applicant and spouse have separate visas).

HO still knows you are a family.

Is there any more specific information about how much later a dependent would get her visa after the main applicant gets his. This seems to be very important because 10 years long residence category is not allowing dependent applications at the same time in theory, while if they are issuing the dependent visa quickly enough after the ILR is granted, there is no reason why people should not send applications at the same time with a cover letter.
Is there anyone with a specific experience of this situation?

@Ged,

I have applied on 4th July on SET(O) & my wife on FLR(M) along with cover letters for each, because our visas were expiring at the same time.

ILR-Dependants 10year

Post by Spidery_thread » Sat Dec 15, 2012 3:14 pm

In long residence(10year legal stay) dependants can not be included along with the main applicant in the application form SET(O), however dependants can apply on FLR(M) at the same time as the main applicant.

You just have to include a cover letter for each application with their special delivery numbers mentioned in repective cover notes.

Do not send FLR(M) with SET(O) to ILR address, send them to the addresses mentioned on each application form.

Apply FLR same time ILR

I wish I did the same, I should've done some research long before...My wife's employer is pushin' hard on ECS for her App to be uploaded onto the system.

Seriously, I keep thinkin' why did I not do this. Hope everything should be alright. Don't really want to trigger the Unfair Dismissal firm.

Wish me luck.

I know. My question is if applying together saves any time from the dependent's processing time or not.

Processing time

Post by JoILR » Sat Dec 15, 2012 4:38 pm

I got my acknowledgement letter and noted an interesting thing that the UKBA claimed in the letter:

"Please note that our published service standard is that we aim to complete 99% of applications within 6 months."

Where does this 99% come from? I thought on the UKBA website, they said they aim to process 95% of the cases within 6 months. And reading through this forum, it seems to me that they even CAN'T process 95% of the cases within 6 months, let alone the figure of 99%. It's rediculous what they're claiming.

Indeed. Will further take 2-6 weeks for decision on FLR(M), once ILR is issued.

Unfortunately, there are unconsiderate employers, who will always exploit this kind of situation.

Have faith, good luck.
