Newborn (Indian citiz) in UK, Travel to India without UK BRP

Post by db83 » Mon Dec 17, 2012 1:15 pm

Hi there

I tried searching for a subject when someone has taken their newborn to India only with an Indian passport and not an UK BRP - but couldnt find any.

I'm on Tier 1 and we had a little one in the UK last month. I've got the passport for the lil one but couldn't get a slot for Tier 1 dependent visa at PEO for the next 42 days. We are planning to go to India in January and then apply for the Tier 1 dependent visa for the lil one from India. Has anyone done this before. Would Indian immigration have a problem that the little one is coming from UK without a UK visa ?

Thanks for your help !

You should be fine to take your child to India without UK visa.

Keep in mind your kid will require Entry Clearance for coming back to UK.

Thanks techie
RG, you need to first register online for Indian citizenship. The link to this page is on hcilondon website (India high comission website). Once you fill in all details, print this application form. Then fill up the passport form, paste photo & take necessary copies like marriage certificate, birth certificate along with originals to the high comission. You need to check which jurisdiction you fall and go to the right consulate. Again these details are in the hcilondon website.
If you fall under London, then make sure you are in the queue by 8 to get an early token. Take a taken for birth registration & passport. Walk up stairs for birth registration and then once your application is submitted you will get an acknowledgment. You need to photocopy that ack ( u can get it done outside where they issue token for free) and then go to passport section downstairs and submit the newborn pp application. Again the copies and original u need to take is in the website.
If you want these by post, take 2 self addressed envelope and give it at the counter

Good luck
I'm just trying to help !
