Wife on spouse Visa-> English requirement advice?

Hello my wife entered the Uk May 2012, when her spouse visa is over I take it i will need to apply for SET (M).

I understand she has to take the *Life in uk Test* I also understand she has to do a B1 on listening and speaking,

which Exam should she do just for the B1 level? and is it better to do the Life in Uk test now , or wait until a revised book comes out for 2013? I am sure I seen something on the UKBA saying more information regarding the above will be available in 2013, but I want to kinda get the ball rolling and not leave it to the last minute.
