Hi, I recently submitted my SET(M) documents.

I'm wondering if I ought to involve my MP? Do you reckon that might make a difference?

Hi
I really think it's too soon to get your MP involve. Just wait, and if you have not receive it in 4months then start doing somrthing abour it.
When you receive your biometric to be done at the post office it will cost you about £20.

Hope this helps

You don't pay anything for the Biometric Card per se. You pay for the application process, depending on which way you submit it - postal, premier or in person. Each application fee is different in ascending order from Postal (£991) to Personal (I think that is £1,355). For the first 2, you pay an extra £19.20 to have your Biometric details (photo, fingerprints and signature) taken at the Post Office. Prices are current for 2012, but I've no doubt they will increase next year!

Hi people
I really think there are so many incompetent people in UKBA at this moment. Because the thing is how this lady said the package was sent yesterday when yesterday was Sunday and UKBA is closed on Sundays.
Congratulations Sherford!

@Kaus1I am astonished at your disbelief :!:  . It is just possible that the UKBA (NOTE everyone, it is the UKBA which deal with the applications, NOT the Home Office, although admittedly the HO is ultimately responsible for the UKBA!) actually provided overtime for weekend working, given that they will be on holiday soon you never know!

Wow, that's a great news. I have applied 5 days after you did (1-8-2012) and didn't think anyone who applied at the same period of time would hear the good news till next year! Hopefully all the July apps will hear all the good news soon, and August apps to follow soon after!!

I have googled UKBA working hours over Christmas and New Year in the UK. You can get the times for Algeria, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Hong Kong and even China etc, but the UK? However, according to the official UKBA website, the UKBA Opening Hours are: Monday to Thursday 09:00 - 17:00 and Friday 09:00 to 16:30 (excluding public holidays). So if you can believe that, then they will be open all the time except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, December 27 and New Year's Day! However, no doubt a number of staff will be on holiday. Of course, they have no control over when the Post Office or the courier service (DX) are working during that period.

My passport arrived today; BRP is still yet to come.

Visa: Set(O) (I arrived on HSMP in 2007, then converted to Tier 1 (general) in 2009)
Application Date: June 19th 2012
Biometric Registration: August 9th 2012 - completed August 10th
Documents Returned: 18th Dec 2012
BRP: waiting...

I spoke to a woman from UKBA yesterday (it was exactly 6 months) and she told me that it had been posted out over the weekend. I suspect they are calling overtime and working through weekends to process the June backlog before the end of the year.

Probably not the best thread to ask this but I suppose when one is waiting one starts to think of what I could have done wrong. Kind of like giving a test in college and then before the results arrive, asking other candidates if they got a certain question right.

Anyway I was wondering:
  • If I arrived before 9th June / July whatever it was this year before rules changed, how much should I have been earning to satisfy the requirements? My monthly income was in tune of £400 to £600 plus wife got a bit of help from her relatives. Supposing if we say I had only £500 per month between me and my wife, do you think that's enough? The income support for a couple is around £450 or something currently.
  • My photos had a bit of shadow around the eyes, do you think that might possibly cause problems in sense that they might ask for photos again? Note that I got it done from a proper photographer in town. He showed me other samples which still had the same problem, but maybe its how its supposed to be and I'm being paranoid.

Guys,

Thanks be to god, i have just received my BRP right now, delivered by some guy on a bike, a bit strange as i applied through a lawyer and was expecting the BRP to be delivered to the lawyer. Still waiting for the docs + passports to be returned but i am thankful, none the less.

Thanks to everyone on this forum, it's been emotional to say the least. To those waiting still waiting, i would say please just hang on, do not waste your time and worry too much, as the UKBA is unlikely to change it's ways unless if hundreds of us complained.

I started the set o thread for june applicant's so i will update my timeline there and sign off. God bless and good luck to everyone waiting.

Biometric Invitation

Post by sugadev » Tue Dec 18, 2012 5:07 pm

Good luck to everyone who are waiting. I called UKBA to find out about my biometric invitation today. Strangely a guy who picked up asked me to wait for couple of minutes and told me that he sent a request to send my biometric invitation. Yesterday when I called them, a lady told me that I have to wait for few more days and it is too early for me to get the biometric. last week I was informed that Oct SET(O) applicants are unlikely to receive their biometric invitation before new year. What the hell.... This is worse than 3 mobile phone customer care. Just hope that my first lap (biometric registration) is complete before newyear. Very silly from UKBA.

sugadev wrote:Good luck to everyone who are waiting.
I received the biometric invitation letter today dated 18.12.12. Surprisingly thats the day I spoke to one of the sensible men in UKBA and was told that he has requested the biometric invitation letter for me. WOW... not everyone in UKBA are inefficient and arrogant fools.

Advice needed

Post by sheford » Thu Dec 20, 2012 3:33 pm

@Captainfantastic
@Baxx

Thank you for your well wishes..

My documents return today ..sadly my wife as Dependent ILR application has been refused.

I do not want another trap into the lengthy appeal waiting time..
Does anyone know if she can apply under a dependent of a settled person FLR(M) from UK? or she needs to return back home and apply from there?

Please advice me if anyone know this matter.

thanks,
sheford.
