All flying to the UK within a month

Post by hsmp28122006 » Sat Feb 10, 2007 5:47 am

Hi Guys,

This thread is for all the ppl who are reaching UK within a month (by March 15th).

It's evident from the forum that most of the people are going there without a job in hand. Hence, it will always be of benifit to be networked while in the UK, it will help us get the job easily there.

So, please make an entry to this this thread with your contact details if you are going to the UK very soon.

I am reaching there by 12th March, I have already resigned from the company yesterday, my contact email id is: hsmpholder@gmail.com

Cheers!

Sorry, :( those who have reached here have nothing much to cheer about.
most of us are regretting coming here, since this government's changing of rules will put Middle East countries to shame.
I'm myself moving from HSMP to Work Permit.
I hope others who are luckier will have something cheerful to welcome you about.

Be patient hsmp28122006! All things comes to those who waits...

Anyhow, if you change your criteria to 'anyone coming to the UK in March', then I would be a candidate. At this stage, I am still thinking about whether to resign this week or next week? My plans would be to be in the UK by the end of March.

I have applied to a few jobs last week, and the response is 'So when are you flying in?' It looks like face-to-face interviews are the way to go if you want a job in the UK.

In the meantime, I am spending time on finding a more suitable accomodation, how best to get rid of my furniture, etc. It's definitely not as easy as it sounds :!:

Hi Sunil,

Yes, I work in IT (Database stream). The jobsearch website I use is http://www.cwjobs.co.uk/. It's the best I can find for UK jobs thus far. HTH.

Hi All,

Good to see comments from those who have recently been to the UK - their experiences and helpful information will be of great help to those preparing to move to the UK.

It's a daunting task for anyone to quit their job and move to a foreign country, let alone all the other preparation that needs doing. Keep them coming!

This discussion would be better suited to the Employment forum of this website where you will find a wider range of experience in these matters.

http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewforum.php?f=5

Lets keep this particular forum specifically for HSMP issues

Although I do not fit into this thread as I am here for over an year now but reading through this thread I just went back to my old days when I was new to UK like you all leaving a good job back home. My advice to the people who are coming or just landed in UK is to get registered with as many consultants as you can. You can get there contact no’s from their personalized site. These recruitment consultants have branches all over UK so look for the nearest one. Try and meet around 3-4 of them in a day as it will save you on the travelling cost. It is very expensive to travel especially within London. When I was doing this I was really hit hard by the cost of travelling to meet these consultants every now and then. Well because I could see most of you from IT, I am not giving the name of the consultants I met as they all handle Accounting and Finance jobs as that is my stream. However, if anybody interested in that list, let me know.
