Rent information is being asked

Does this need to be proved as well? I mean the contract etc during the application.

Also would they cross check the rent amount with my statements?

As long as you mention the amount it should be OK. For instance if you were staying with your relatives, you are not paying an rent, or may be you are paying cash or pay 6 months at once. I didnot get asked to provide any proof of rent. Didnot provide any contract either.

Rent proof is not required.

Just mention the amount. They'll cross check your salary with bank statements not the rent.
