Unwanted SMS and protection from harassment

Post by transpondia-2011 » Thu Dec 20, 2012 5:39 pm

People who are legitimately in the UK but who have been receiving unwanted text messages and telephone calls from Capita Plc demanding that they leave the UK on the grounds of being an overstayer should note that those acting on behalf of the crown are exempt from harassment charges. So there is nothing to be done on that front.

Instead, people should consider filing a complaint with OFCOM for abuse of network. This is a viable path of recourse. Link here...

At the moment, we believe that this problem is likely to get worse before it gets better.

Now The Times has jumped in to the party. Certainly not with the zeal of the BBC, but jumped in nonetheless.

This is rich. In a droll turnabout of paradox, a thread on Biker Chat Forums has independently concluded that the SMS messages from Capita are an immigration scam! You have to love it...

Yeah because if they'd actually checked with ANY authoritative sources they'd have discovered its NOT a scam. Sure, its not the smartest approach but its not a con.

I'd suggest anyone receiving one of these messages (even in error) to deal with it and not ignore it.
