Hi Guys,

I have recently been granted Indefinite leave to remain. I would like to know the visa requirements for my wife to enter UK. I believe now my wife can apply for a spouse visa( as against a dependent visa in the home country- Previously I was on Tier 1 G).
Also for spouse visa do I need to show the £18,600 salary requirements proof example payslips, bank statements or just an employer letter will do.
Also how long long it usually takes to process such a visa as well as the procedure of applying. A colleague of mine who is a british citizen had to wait about 7-8 months for his partner's spouse visa to get approved.
The spouse visa holder can they take up employment as a doctor in training or nurse?
Any useful link for foreign qualified doctors/dentists on a spouse visa and options available to them to take up employment in the relevant field.

I don't know about priority... In the emails they say they work on first come first serve basis. But who knows.... Also leaving it this late you need about a minimal of three months. But also soon she might not be able to travel, you need to really look into this.

Thanks Batleykhan.
6 months is a long wait surely :-(
My main concern currently is the accomodation requirement. Currently I live in a shared accomodation and the house rental contract is not in my name. Does UKBA normally cross check the accomodation proof. Also what is the general requirements for accomodation proof. How many ppl are allowed to stay in a 2-3 bedroom house.

Also what if someone is in a contract job. Do we have to show we are currently earning more then £18,600 as well as earned more then that the last year. Contract jobs are usually on a 3-6 months basis. what's more important whether we have earned the amount in the previous 12 months or currently earning that amount in the next 12 months?

As I will be applying from Islamabad - Any good lawyers there or in the london area? Would you recommend anyone. How much do they normally charge.

Yes you have to provide a tenancy agreement and a report that the property is big enough for the number of people residing in it. The number of people will depend the size of the rooms (Click on the link in family section about accommodation )

If you meet all the criteria, its best to do it yourself. Its an easy procedure and will save you a lot of money...........We normally don't recommend solicitors, so you will have to find one yourself...........sorry

@ Meena1234,

They asked my partner if they had been to the UK before, when we got married. They asked me what job I do, how long I went abroad for to pick up my partner.

I felt that me being there with my partner meant that they asked us a fewer questions than if my partner had been alone.

well you have 28 days to apply. then they give the bhc 19 weeks to relook at e decision. but anything can happen within that time. if nothing happens or do not overturn it then it will go court.so can be upto 7 to 9 months

if they overturn then maybe 5 odd months

Sadia786, for proper advice state all the reasons in the actual wording they gave you. If there's any sensitive information of course leave that out. It will give us an idea of the real reasons for refusal.

Appeals take time, but they are not that complicated and most people are more than capable of loding an appeal by themselves.

If you had one sole reason for refusal, which was lack of pay slips, it's a piss easy appeal. Appeal online at the IAT website, it will be in the notice of decision I'm sure. Pay the money as well.

Your grounds for appeal will need to include, why you didn't include more pay slips, just say you thought only 3 months were required. Then tell them, we have more pay slips and we meet the VISA criteria for settlement. When you print off your covering page, before you post it, send off lots of pay slips, if they asked for 6 months give them 9. Do not send anything else, just the payslips and any other relevant docs which were not submitted in the original application.

You have 28 days from the date of you receiving your decision. Appeals will have to be done to the IAT in the UK, much easier for the sponsor to do it.
