You need to give us more background information. How did the Home Office find out your husband was illegal? Did he give himself up? Was he arrested? How did you come to be in the situation where he is being interviewed? What is your nationality and visa status in the UK?

I don't know the details of your husbands case, but if he is currently an illegal immigrant and goes for an interview at the Home Office, there is a very good chance that he will be arrested and placed into an immigration detention center awaiting deportation. It is not possible to regularise your stay without leaving the UK if you are an illegal immigrant, so I would be very suspicous of attending an interview at the Home Office. They have been known in the past to use the lure of an interview (possibly offering the chance to become legal) just to get an illegal immigrant into the building so that they can be arrested and deported.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

sorry. He was in the UK, currently in Jamaica his home country waiting for an interview date. He went back himself, he was signing on for 4 weeks, then we decided it would be best for him to return and apply for a visa over there. Just wondered if this would go through the HO before interview......and what info would they give to BHC....?

Right decision. The interview could be for different reasons, for example, if he is applying to join you, as a settled spouse here, he would need to prove that your relationship is genuine (if he has not supplied sufficient evidence with his application) and that you intend to live together. He might be asked for some information about his previous immigration history. Any information that has not been supplied in full with the application form, may be asked for during the interview.
Please let us know how the interview went and good luck to him.

This person has posted on the forum before. Her situation is detailed in a few previous posts. Unfortunately, her husband's visa application is further complicated by his criminal record in the UK. This may be what is slowing down the process in Jamaica.
